Barn Hunt may be enjoyed by any breed or mix, and dogs may begin competing and having fun right after they learn the “game” and are introduced to the sport. Live rats are used in a specially designed container to ensure that the dog is chasing a real scent. The dog and handler are trained to find the container, and not attack the container. The rats themselves are housed in a different part of the facility in nice, clean cages.
BARN HUNT AT CK9
Central K9 is one of the leading Barn Hunt facilities in CT. We have a special dedicated Barn Hunt area used only for training and nationally sanctioned Trials. The hay is changed frequently, ensuring a clean environment for the dogs to work in.
TITLES
Dogs may participate and compete at different levels of intensity and performance, and may earn titles in each class: Instinct, Novice, Open, Senior, and Master. A dog earns a title by getting three “legs” within each class.
